YEAR AT-A-GLANCE...
Thursday Feb 13th - Thursday Feb 19th, 2026 BRAZIL is the largest Latin country in the Americas
BRAZIL is the largest Latin country in the Americas with cultural influences of this country are a blend of Native American, African, European and Portuguese customs. As an added fact, it claims the most recognized and uninhibited of all Carnival celebrations on the globe.
For the people of Brazil, Carnival is an enormous festival of pride, culture and party energy celebrated annually before Lent each. While Salvador da Bahia claims the largest celebration, Rio de Janeiro’s, massive Street Parties (called Blocos), lavish Masquerade Balls and prestigious Samba school competition make it the epic televised event watched around the world! The signature parade competition in Rio’s Sambadrome Stadium goes on through the entire week, where the top samba troops in the city contend fiercely for the coveted championship crown. Showcased are large, hand-crafted, visually impressive parade floats from each Samba school, led by a beautiful “Samba Queen”. The Samba Queen is accompanied by thousands (yes, thousands) of male & female singers, drummers and dancers in dazzling costumes performing choreographed routines to the Samba beat. It is such an overwhelming, exuberant display of artistry & showmanship – that if you look closely, you’ll may even spot several Samba dancers with absolutely no costume at all! (WHOA)
After the past twelve years of attendance, we can say this event never disappoints! Make plans as we set our sites on a proper return next February. Join the Funky People for the the biggest party on the planet at Carnavale 2026!

Started in 1990 as a small gathering of friends behind the Museum of Science & Industry, the Chosen Few Picnic & House Music Festival is the world’s longest-running event dedicated to House Music. Nicknamed the “Woodstock of House Music” for its family-reunion vibe, the Picnic & Festival attracts more than 40,000 fans to Chicago’s Jackson Park each year, and counts among its supporters former United States President Barack Obama.
About the Chosen Few DJs:
Founded in 1977 by Wayne Williams, the Chosen Few DJs is a music collective that was among the first wave of DJs and producers in Chicago who created what became known as House Music. Since 1990, the Chosen Few DJs – Williams, Jesse Saunders, Tony Hatchett, Alan King, Andre Hatchett, Terry Hunter, and Mike Dunn – along with childhood friend Kim Parham – have organized the Chosen Few Picnic & House Music Festival, drawing more than 40,000 fans each year. The collective hosts events in cities across the United States and perform at festivals around the globe, including Amsterdam Dance Event, Winter Music Conference, Tribe Tambor Cruise, and Suncébeat. They also produce hit music, from Terry Hunter’s and Wayne Williams’ GRAMMY-nominated “It’s Your World” by Jennifer Hudson and NAACP Image Award-winning production on “Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics” to Mike Dunn’s critically acclaimed, “My House from All Angles”, the smash “In The Beginning (There Was Jack)”, an update of the classic House track featuring Chuck Roberts and Monique Bingham, and Jesse Saunder’s 2019 Billboard chart-topping “Higher”. FALL 2025 MUSIC CENTER SEASON: The Strathmore
FALL 2025 MUSIC CENTER SEASON: The Strathmore presents: Lizz Wright on October 5th, 2025. Through an inimitable voice that The New York Times touts as, “a smooth, dark alto possessed of qualities you might associate with barrel-aged bourbon or butter-soft leather,” Lizz Wright sings with a soaring reflection of the cultural fabric of America. She lies beneath the script of human history transcending social divides with an offer of love and deep sense of humanity. Her music accepts the beauty of reality and a collective experience of belonging. For the listener, Wright’s songs embody a tradition that allows us to always feel at home. Wright culls inspiration from her Southern upbringing in Georgia where she was the musical director of a small church in which her father was the pastor. Gospel music, and the call and response singing with the church congregation, informed her first brushes with music while soon she would traverse the Great American Songbook on her path to an illustrious singing career.
At the age of 22, Wright made a name for herself nationally as a vocalist with a touring concert tribute to Billie Holiday, where her poised performance stole the show. At 23, she signed with Verve Records for the release of Salt, which topped Billboard’s contemporary jazz charts. Her subsequent albums (Dreaming Wide Awake, The Orchard, Fellowship, Freedom & Surrender) continued to top the charts with her single “Lean In” (from Freedom & Surrender) landing on President Obama’s 2016 Summer Playlist. Produced by Americana icon Joe Henry, Wright’s latest full-length studio recording, GRACE (Concord Records; 2017), reveals the web of deep running roots of story and song that bind together the vastly diverse traditions that are the soul of the American South.
On June 15, 2022, Lizz Wright launched an independent record company, Blues & Greens Records, with the release of Holding Space, a brilliant live album capturing a Berlin, Germany concert in 2018. Produced by Christian Ulbrich, Holding Space features a 11-song collection of Wright singing with her electrifying band including: Bobby Ray Sparks II (keys), Ben Zwerin (bass), Ivan Edwards (drums), and Chris Bruce (guitar). A companion short film of the same title accompanies the live album and captures the power of live performance and its exhilarating effects on the audience. Produced by Monica Haslip and Lynne Earls, the Holding Space film includes behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with all of the musicians.
Wright’s label venture Blues & Greens Records is designed to forge an innovative business model where artists are positioned to build sustainable and wholesome careers. After 20+ years of major and indie label contracts, Wright sees the imbalances of power and unfairnesses in artistic ownership. Blues & Greens Records creates a healthy ecosystem for Wright, and inspires her to imagine and develop offerings for emerging artists. Her debut release, Holding Space, becomes the first master recording she owns.
The mission of Blues & Greens is to restore the basic humanity in the music business with wellness, and sustainable and sound business practices at the forefront. Blues & Greens artists will own their masters, creative works, and images. A vault of assets will be bestowed to artists with all rights under their own names. Artists will design and captain their unique narratives and work with industry leading publicity and marketing experts to share these stories with the media.

FALL 2025 US TOUR: *** Don’t miss these two iconic bands co-headlining for a farewell music tour ***
Selling over 20 million albums worldwide, The B-52s—Fred Schneider [vocals], Kate Pierson [vocals], Cindy Wilson [vocals], and retired-from-performing Keith Strickland [guitar, drums, keys, programming] – have quietly impacted alternative music, fashion, and culture over the course of four-plus decades. They count John Lennon, Madonna, James Murphy, Arcade Fire, Lady Gaga and Michael Stipe among their many disciples. Panic! At The Disco, Blood Orange, The Offspring, Pitbull, Roger Sanchez, and DJ Shadow have sampled classics from the band’s discography as Seth MacFarlane’s Family Guy, The Simpsons, Sugarland, and more offered up covers of their own. They inched towards the forefront of the post-punk movement in America codified by 1979’s self-titled The B-52s. Not only did the record go gold, but it also placed at #152 on Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” and #99 on VH1’s “Greatest Albums of All Time.” The gold-selling Wild Planet arrived hot on its heels in 1980. With Keith Strickland brilliantly filling the void in with music composition and live show guitar duties after Ricky Wilson’s untimely passing, 1989’s watershed Cosmic Thing elevated The B-52s to another galaxy altogether. It moved five million-plus units and spawned a string of Top 10 smashes in the form of the GRAMMY®-nominated “Roam” and “Love Shack” – which Rolling Stone lauded on the “500 Greatest Songs of All Time.” After a 16-year hiatus, The B-52s proved as bright, bold, and boundless as ever on 2008’s Funplex. The momentum only ramped up when they roamed on tour in 2015 alongside Tears for Fears, Pretenders and more, and then continued up through the band’s celebrated farewell tour launched in 2022. As they prepare to celebrate their catalog with their ongoing farewell performances, The B-52s look forward to inspiring future generations.
Devo (short for The De-Evolution Band, often stylized in capital letters as DEVO) is an American new wave/punk rock band who officially formed in 1973 in Akron, Ohio. They have had a revolving array of members in the almost 50 years since, but the most famous lineup (active from 1976 to 1984) consisted of two frontmen, Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald Casale, two guitarists, Bob Casale (Bob 2) and Bob Mothersbaugh (Bob 1), along with Alan Myers on drums. Devo’s music is characterized by its deconstructionism, prominent use of synthesizers (particularly the Moog Model D), a kitsch science-fiction aesthetic, and a general sense of cynicism about the world around them, which ties into the band’s belief that humanity is no longer evolving, but is instead gradually de-evolving.

Raphael Saadiq brings his ‘No Bandwidth’ tour to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey on Thursday, October 2, 2025!
Over the course of five groundbreaking solo albums, three GRAMMY® Awards (and 22 additional nominations), and recognition from both the Oscars and Golden Globes, Raphael Saadiq has cemented his status as a true icon of contemporary music. Between his work as an artist, producer and songwriter, he has sold over 30 million records worldwide.
His remarkable journey began in 1984, when, at just 18 years old, he was already sharing stages with music royalty Prince and Sheila E. His artistry soon flourished with the formation of Tony! Toni! Toné!, which helped define the sound of ’90s R&B. With unforgettable anthems like “If I Had No Loot” and “Anniversary,” Saadiq became a pivotal figure in shaping the genre’s landscape. Saadiq’s influence expanded as he ventured into a critically acclaimed solo career, debuting with the genre-defining Instant Vintage in 2002. His unique ability to seamlessly blend vintage soul with modern sensibilities propelled him to the forefront of the pop and R&B genres, while his production genius turned him into one of the most sought-after collaborators in music.
From D’Angelo’s iconic Voodoo to Solange’s A Seat at the Table, Saadiq has shaped some of the most influential albums of the 21st century. His own critically lauded Jimmy Lee (2019) further solidified his reputation as a boundary-pushing artist. His recent contributions to Beyoncé’s iconic albums, Renaissance and Cowboy Carter have earned him 8 more GRAMMY® nominations. As he enters the fifth decade of his illustrious career, Raphael Saadiq remains an indispensable force, continuing to shape and redefine the sound of contemporary pop and soul.
